DOJ Approves Sirius-XM Merger
More than a year after the deal was announced, the Department of Justice has approved the merger Sirius and XM. The FCC must still give its approval, however, and no timeline for that announcement has been offered.
What does this mean for radio advertisers? There will be a consolidation of airtime inventory (for example there has been a CNN-XM and a CNN-Sirius), but that should be offset by the combining of audience numbers.
Nonetheless, sources tell us that it will be years before the technololgy needed to combine the companies is actually available.
