Front Row at IAB’s Podcast Upfront

Earlier this month our Podcast Strategist, Lisa Risk joined CEO and founder, Jeff Small in NYC for the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s
Podcast Upfront Conference

With podcasts projected to hit $2.6 billion by 2026, it was imperative for SMI to have front row access to the new programs, hosts, topics, and trends ready to take radio and streaming by storm.

Sports and comedy were the big focus this year with captivating hosts like former NFL Quarterback Matt Simms and Super Bowl MVP Phil Simms. Celebrity hosts Jon Stewart and Nick Cannon continue to prove the jump from TV to audio is a worthwhile endeavor while storytelling and true-crime programming validated mainstays.

With a variety of publisher presentations and previews, the SMI team was able to make connections in real time between the offerings of our clients and the needs of different audiences and diverse communities of listeners.

As our CEO and Founder Jeff Small put it, “We’re able to bring this information back to our team, back to our Clients, and strategize even more effectively and efficiently.”

Additionally, the advantage of being face to face with creators, brands, agencies, and providers is paramount. The IAB Upfronts always provide space to cement existing relationships and help build new ones–an element that is foundational to our approach here at SMI.

Conferences, much like podcasts, can foster powerful engagement, understanding, and connection. We know that podcast audiences are intent and loyal listeners. It’s our job to make sure that our Clients are able to engage with them–and get measurable results. Participating in events like the IAB Upfronts ensures we’re making those connections, before your competitors do.
