The results of Nielsen’s latest PPM survey are in. For the third straight month, radio’s weekly reach has increased, hitting its highest level since March 2020. Radio has added more than 5 million new weekly listeners aged 12+ since the beginning of 2021, Inside Radio report.

Average Quarter-Hour (AQH) audience, another key audience metric, experienced two consecutive months of gains. Average Quarter-Hour (AQH) Persons measures the number of people listening to a station for at least 5 minutes in a 15-minute period within a given daypart. Radio’s total AQH persons in PPM-measured markets increased to 7.6 million in April, up from 7.5 million in March and 7.0 million in both January and February, according to Inside Radio. April listening gains were spread across the day, with morning commutes (Mon-Fri, 6-10am) and weekends (Sat-Sun, 6a-12 midnight) hitting their highest audience levels since fall 2020.
