Total Recall: Direct Response Radio Works

According to Inside Radio, the Southern California Broadcasters Association has done an extensive study to show that consumers are more likely to notice and recall advertising messages on broadcast radio than other traditional media (including digital channels).

Well, we could have told you that! In fact, we founded Strategic Media nearly fifteen years ago on this exact premise. We’ve helped hundreds of companies benefit from radio advertising. After generating 14.5 million new leads, we can safely say that radio works.

The fact is that broadcast radio ranks just behind newspapers for memory recall and ahead of TV. And radio ranks ahead of social networks, online search ads and online banner ads.

Even the Gen-Xers and Millennials, who are glued to social networks and smartphones have better recall when it comes to broadcast radio commercials. SCBA president Thom Callahan says, “The consumer clearly recalls and pays attention to radio commercials much more than to any digital, search engine, or social media ads.”
